Gate form
The Gate form enables you to define a gate used at your site and to associate a gate configuration with the gate. In addition, you can configure gate lanes, yards, and consoles for the selected gate. The first step in configuring a gate in N4 is to add a gate. You can define as many gates as required at your site.
To define a gate:
In the Gate ID field, enter an ID that uniquely identifies the gate for your site.
This can be any user-defined value to identify a gate, such as main gate, empty gate, or north gate.
In the Description field, enter a short description for the gate.
For example, specify the purpose or the physical location of a gate.
From the Facility drop-down list, select the facility where the gate is located.
The options available in the Facility drop-down list depend on your current scope level. If your scope level is at a facility or lower scope level, you can only configure gates for that facility.
From the Gate Configuration drop-down list, select the gate configuration for the gate.
The drop-down list displays the gate configurations defined at the current scope level. To add a new gate configuration, see Gate Configurations view (on page 1).
Optionally, from the Gate Configuration (Internal Trucks) drop-down list, select a gate configuration for the internal trucks if you have a different gate flow for external and internal trucks.
If you do not select a gate configuration for internal trucks, N4 uses the main gate configuration for all trucks.
Optionally, from the Appointment Rule Set lookup field, select the appointment rule set used for appointments for the gate.
The lookup field displays the appointment rule sets defined at the current scope level. To add an appointment rule set, see Appointment Rule Sets view (on page 1).
If you use the same appointment rule set for more than one gate, all of the associated gates will share the same appointment rule quotas.
If you change appointment rule sets for a gate, any existing appointments for the old rule set will still be valid but N4 does not count these appointments against the quotas for the new appointment rule set.
Users can not create appointments in the Operations Gate
Appointments view unless an appointment stage exists for the gate configuration selected in step 4, and an appointment rule set are associated with a gate.
In the Seq Nbr field, enter the truck flow sequence number. N4 looks for this number to determine the sequence of gates to visit.
Click Save.
You must save the gate definition before you can add lanes, yards, consoles, exchange areas serviced by a gate, or exchange area delays for the gate.
